The Emco Wheaton High Pressure Quick Connect/Disconnect Couplers (HP QC/ DC) are designed as the main part of the Emergency Release Systems (ERS) for fast and secured coupling procedures involved with High Pressure Natural Gas Arms.
These systems ensure the highest level of safety when releasing a ship in case of an emergency.
High Pressure Natural Gas Marine Arms are connected to a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU). Floating structures are in constant motion relative to the shore due to wind, waves and currents.
While the transfer arm is designed to operate within a dedicated working envelope, the system might be required to automatically disconnect in a safe manner to avoid damage in case of an abnormal or accidental situation (sudden storm, failure of mooring system or effects of a passing-by ship). This safety function is provided by a system called Emergency Release System (ERS).
